In it’s third year, the Reinbeck Art Festival has proven to be a fun, “down-home” event, with local and regional artists showcasing their expertise in a variety of mediums.
This juried festival will feature thirty-two artists, live music, door prizes, and children’s art activities. New this year is an art activity for grownups, a community painting. Participants paint one panel of a design that will make up the total image, which is Van Gogh’s “Irises.” The panels are ready for painting, so it’s a great way for anyone to “get their paint on.” The event and all activities are free to the public.
The event will be Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 9am-4pm. Outside booth locations will be on Main
Street down to the corner of Broad and Main Streets and up Broad Street to the Memorial Building at 208 Broad
Street, where the inside artist vendors are located. In the case of inclement weather, the rain location is the
United Church of Christ directly across from the Memorial Building.
Festival Chairperson Julie Russell-Steuart says, “It’s actually unusual for an art festival to offer a rain location. We like to take care of our artists and patrons who come expecting to have a great day.” She adds, “Many artists complimented us last year on how well they were treated!”
Community members were also very pleased to have a wonderful event that encourages so much creativity.
The children’s art activities this year are: Eric Carle Art Project, Ceramic Tile Decorating, Doodle Art, and Clay
Creations. Musicians playing will be: The eNablers, Chris Draffen, Aaron MacNally, Kirk Eastman, and Sugar &
Spice. A special CD compilation from UNI New Horizons Band will also play.
Local restuarants with specials plan to cater to festival patrons, and other downtown businesses will be open.
Becktoberfest at Broad Street Brewing Company will also be taking place in Reinbeck the same day. Check back here for highlights of our business donors.
The Reinbeck Art Festival is supported in part by a grant from the Grundy County Community Foundation -
General Fund, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.
